So I learned a pretty expensive lesson last week and I thought I'd share it here so maybe someone else can avoid the same mistake I made. I've got a C63 AMG and the battery died on me completely, no warning signs at all, just came out one morning to a completely dead car. I was in a rush so I called the nearest garage that could come and replace it on the spot, thinking a battery is just a battery right? Well, turns out that was a terrible assumption. The guy put in a regular AGM battery that he said would work fine, and for the first few days it seemed okay, but then I started getting all sorts of error messages on the dash, the performance mode selector stopped working properly, and the car felt like it was in some kind of limp mode. I took it to a proper specialist who told me that the battery they installed didn't have the correct specifications for the AMG's higher electrical demands and it wasn't properly coded to the car's system. They ended up having to replace it again with the correct spec battery and properly register it to the vehicle, which cost me even more money in the long run. I wish I had just done it right the first time instead of trying to save a few dirhams. If you're dealing with a battery issue, honestly just go to a specialist who knows these cars inside out.
